Elif Memisoglu, Brooklyn, New York

Growing up in Brooklyn, Elif was exposed to all things NYC, whether it was the grit and glamour of street fashion, watching neighbors double dutch on sidewalks. The enticing subway tiles with gorgeous mosaic type or rudimentary signage at the local pizzeria, this all influenced her interest in typography and design.

As a result of her passion in the arts, she pursued her degree and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design from the prestigious School of Visual Arts. It was there many of her academic projects were published in Graphis, the international publisher of books on communication design. Upon her graduation from SVA, she was selected as an Assistant Promotion Designer at the coveted Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia where she designed for magazine advertorials and special advertising sections. While working closely with the events department, she designed signage and invites for client parties and special events including the opening of the conservatory at The New York Botanical Gardens.

After her time with Martha Stewart, Elif became exposed to advertising where she worked as an Art Director in the healthcare division of Interpublic Group and then to world-renowned Saatchi & Saatchi in New York City. During her time there, she directed medical advertising campaigns from concept and design, to launch of a national promotional campaign for a multi-million dollar chronic care company. Medical advertising opened Elif's world to building strong brands in healthcare and the art of scientific and medical storytelling.

She, then, had the opportunity to become a Concept Design Specialist at CNBC Television, where she was originally hired as a freelancer and went on to do Emmy-nominated work for the network redesign, she also developed brand identities for various redesigns and promotional spots. She was also the point person for various, high-profile primetime shows including Mad Money and Fast Money (CNBC’s Primetime lineup). In addition, Elif also worked at the Late Show with David Letterman at CBS Television developing graphics for late-night comedy with writers and the show staff.

Elif made the decision to start doing project-based, freelance work once she became a mother and continues to do so. She has worked on various projects such as logo design for the Huffington Post show series “Celebs have Issues”, a presentation for the AIGA Design Conference, the CNBC Television 20th Anniversary logo, ads for show specials along with invitations, tablescapes, event planning, hospitality services and interior design elevations.
